Independent Travel Vaccines

Here is a list of vaccines we offer for travel aspirants:

Diphtheria Vaccine

Diphtheria is a serious bacterial infection. To add more, it is highly contagious. Although it can be treated with antibiotics, it can roll in some fatal complications. Hence, a vaccine is always recommended.

The symptoms of diphtheria include a whitish plaque on the tonsils and sore throat that make breathing difficult. Moreover, a high-grade fever, cough with difficulty and pain on swallowing, swollen neck glands, bloody plus foul-smelling nasal discharge and cyanosis (bluish skin) are also symptoms of diphtheria.

Hence, if you are travelling to Sub-Saharan Africa, south-east Asia or South America, a diphtheria vaccine is highly recommended. Contact our team now to book yourself our vaccination service against diphtheria. We’ll also advise you on other vaccines you might need before embarking on your journey.

Rabies Vaccine

Rabies is a viral disease that is transmitted to humans by bites of rabid animals (most commonly dogs). The virus ascends up your nervous system and attacks your brain. Bad thing, it can cause death if not treated. This makes vaccination against rabies very important especially when travelling to areas where it is prevalent.

The symptoms of rabies start with a flu-like illness along with fever and headache. Not to mention, there is pain at the bite site and anxiety. And after few days, you experience severe symptoms such as hallucinations, difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing and muscle paralysis etc.

So, if you are travelling to Afghanistan, Africa or Argentina, you should definitely contact us to get a timely rabies vaccination.

Tetanus Vaccine

Tetanus is a bacterial condition that is usually fatal if left untreated. It is caused by a bacteria called Clostridium tetani that gets into your bloodstream through a wound (say due to a fall from the bike). The bacteria are typically found in soil from where it gets onto your skin. It then enters your blood when given a portal (an open wound).

The symptoms of tetanus include lockjaw (difficulty to open your jaw), muscle spasms (especially in respiratory muscles that makes breathing difficult), a high fever and tachycardia.

If you are worried about contracting a tetanus infection and want to vaccinate yourself as a part of your travel vaccination protocol, contact our team now. We’ll arrange a quick vaccination appointment to address your concerns.

Malaria

Malaria is caused by a parasite called plasmodium. This parasite is transmitted to the human body via a mosquito bite. It replicates inside the body and infects red blood cells.

The symptoms of the disease include fever with chills, body aches and abdominal pain (sometimes). It can also cause anaemia and jaundice as a result of damage to RBC's.

It is commonly found in tropical and subtropical regions (Asia, Africa, South America and some parts of Europe). The recommended protection is a prophylactic treatment with antibiotics or vaccination, if available. Hence, if you are planning a trip to any of the areas where malaria is common, contact us now for a complete vaccination and prophylactic plan prior to your tour. We’ll roll you in with an appointment without delay.

Yellow Fever Vaccine

Yellow fever is an infectious disease transmitted through the bite of a mosquito. It is common in Africa, South and Central America and the Caribbean.

The symptoms of yellow fever show up after a week. They include flu-like symptoms such as headache, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, muscle pain and body aches etc. Also, photosensitivity is a common feature. Moreover, sometimes the disease rolls in serious symptoms such as jaundice (yellow skin), bleeding from the nose and blood in stools. And yes, at times it can be fatal too.

Your best chance is to get vaccinated. Thus, if you are travelling to an area where yellow fever is common, contact our team for vaccination plans and other preventive options. We’ll assist you with an easy and quick appointment.

Dengue Fever

Dengue fever is another mosquito borne viral condition that grabs special focus because it is widespread throughout the world. It is transmitted by a mosquito bite and usually passes without any complications. However, it is not uncommon for it to cause death without a timely treatment.

Symptoms include a high-grade fever (104 °F), nausea and vomiting, muscle and joint pain, headache and pain around the eyes etc. The symptoms typically last for some days. Even when the symptoms go away, you feel general weakness for weeks before recovering completely.

So, if you’ve travelled to an area where dengue is endemic, and you now feel the symptoms, contact our team now. Our experts will breeze in all the necessary help. Because a vaccine against dengue virus is not readily available, the recommended step remains to avoid a mosquito bite using mosquito repellents.

Encephalitis Vaccine

Japanese Encephalitis is a mosquito borne infection common in South-east Asia, the Pacific Islands and the Far east. It is a viral infection that does not usually show symptoms or even if it does, it is limited to mild flu-like illness.

However, it can sometimes invade the brain, hence the name encephalitis. Involvement of the brain leads to severe symptoms such mental confusion, uncontrollably tremors, muscle weakness and paralysis. This often results in death. Even if you survive, it takes months to recover completely.

Cholera Vaccine

Cholera is an infection caused by a bacteria called Vibrio cholera. It causes severe diarrhoea that leads to dehydration and electrolyte imbalances. And yes, it can be fatal sometimes.

Cholera is transmitted via eating food or drinking water contaminated with human faeces. Hence, it is more common in areas with poor sanitation and hygiene practices. The symptoms of cholera can build up very quickly as it leads to profuse watery diarrhoea and vomiting. Excessive fluid loss causes hypovolaemia (drop in blood volume) that can cause death. Consult our experts now for a timely vaccination against cholera.

What are travel vaccines?

They are vaccines required as a standard protocol before you decide to travel out of your country. The aim is to protect you from various infectious diseases common/endemic in the areas that you are travelling to. Also, travellers from a region where a certain disease is endemic, require vaccination against that disease before they travel to another area (so that they don’t become an agent for disease transmission, e.g. yellow fever).

Do I require a Covid-19 Vaccination for travel?

Yes. A COVID-19 vaccination certificate (proof of vaccination) is necessary to travel to any part of the world.

What vaccines do I need to Get before I travel outside of the UK?

It highly depends upon your travel destination (various destinations require various vaccines as a standard protocol). At our clinic, we offer different travel vaccines in compliance with destination specific vaccination protocols.

Also, you should get vaccinated at least two weeks prior to your journey. Vaccines required for India are diphtheria, tetanus, hepatitis A, cholera, Japanese Encephalitis and typhoid.

Vaccines for Central And South America

Very friendly staff with a wide range and treatments, and the knowledge of how to apply those treatments. Very relaxed atmosphere, where you can discuss (without pressure) what you would like to enhance, about the way you look. They've altered my life and how I feel about myself in a very short time. I had no idea that I could alter (without surgery) my physical shape. This seemed to happen almost magically while we were chatting through the totally painless procedure. I'm very happy that I found you guys at Medispa, many thanks

I have been visiting EF Medispa, Edgbaston for a few months now and I can honestly say it has so far been a very positive experience. The team are so friendly and welcoming, you are always greeted with big warm smiles. I initially had my consultation with Sarah, who was lovely and very knowledgeable. She explained the whole procedure to me before treatments commenced. I also cannot speak highly enough of Kelly who has been carrying out my treatments. She always makes me feel at ease, from the very start she has walked me through the process of the whole procedure, answers all my questions and tells me what the benefits are. I would highly recommend coming to EF Medispa, Edgbaston, it is a spotless and pristine clinic and not only that, you will be well looked after by all the professional, friendly and welcoming staff from the moment you walk through the door.
