Microneedling involves puncturing the skin with tiny sterilized needles. These small punctures encourage your body to make more collagen and elastin, which heal your skin and help it to look younger.
Microneedling is relatively painless and feels like small vibrations on the skin.
The treatment is relatively comfortable and safe, but you may experience redness, bruising, peeling and scarring in some situations.
There is no real preparation, however it is recommended you avoid taking aspirin and drinking alcohol before the treatment to reduce your chances of bruising, as both can thin the skin. If you are using retinol, avoid using the products a few days before as it can make the skin more sensitive.
The treatment has minimal downtime and is relatively comfortable, so you can return to your normal activities immediately. You may experience a little bruising or swelling, but this will reduce within 24 hours.
This really depends on your individual concerns, but we recommend your treatment is repeated every 4 to 6 weeks until you see desired results. To give your collagen a boost, we recommend at least 3 treatments and for scar reduction we recommend around 8 treatments.
You will start to see results as soon as the redness has calmed down and your skin will look visibly more plump. For real results, we recommend a treatment course depending on your skin concern.
We recommend avoiding any harsh skin care such as acids, AHA’s and retinol. Avoid sun exposure and wear SPF. Avoid any strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
